Surfaces are the contact to the “environment” and decisively determine the look, feel and durability. Surface tests or resistance tests simulate how plastics, coatings or paintwork react to external influences. The GWP plastics laboratory offers tests according to current standards and OEM regulations. We test the resistance to chemicals such as cleaning agents and solvents, fats, oils, sweat, sunscreen or even food leftovers and examine the behavior of surfaces against abrasion, scratching or stone chipping. The surface or resistance test allows possible damage such as discoloration, paint adhesion problems, gloss effects or loss of strength to be identified in advance.
Range of services: Tests on plastics, decors and coatings
color fastness test by abrasion abrasion test,
Scratch test with linear lifting device (crockmeter),
Determination of the abrasion resistance (micro-scratch resistance) of high-gloss surfaces in vehicle interiors
Cross cut test, pencil hardness test
Testing of the stone chip resistance of coatings – multi-impact test
Determination of resistance to liquids
Cream resistance test
microscopic surface characterization and computed tomography.
We determine color differences, color tones and color strengths as well as gloss levels on base materials or surfaces such as laminates and decors.
We test the stone chip resistance, for example, on underbody applications, floor coverings, shielding, damping troughs, engine shielding capsules as well as painted and coated plastics.
We offer tests of the resistance of surfaces to mechanical stress, e.g. from friction or scratching.
We test surfaces for their resistance to any chemical substances, e.g. solvents, sunscreen or lubricants.
