Testing the tensile strength of plastics according to ASTM D 638

Standard method for testing the tensile strength of plastics. Both ISO 527-1/-2 and ASTM D 638 specify test methods for the tensile test. Both standards are technically equivalent, but do not provide fully comparable results, as the specimen shapes, test speeds and method of determining the results differ in some respects.
