Determination of the bending properties according to DIN EN ISO 178

Method for determining the bending properties of rigid and semi-rigid plastics.
The method is used to investigate the bending behaviour of the specimens and to determine the bending strength, the bending modulus and other aspects of the bending stress/strain relationship under the defined conditions.
Specimens are loaded centrally (three-point bending test).
The test method is suitable for the following material groups:
-thermoplastic moulding compounds, extrusion and casting compounds, including filled and reinforced compounds, rigid thermoplastic sheets;
thermosetting moulding compounds, including filled and reinforced compounds; thermosetting sheets.
The method is not suitable for the determination of construction properties, but can be used for material testing and in quality control.
